Acid Reflux Disease: Discomfort And The Way To Relieve It

Have you ever heard of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)? This disease is more commonly known as acid reflux disease. The usual symptoms of acid reflux disease are heartburn and acid regurgitation. In case you are not familiar with these symptoms, acid regurgitation makes you have a bitter and somewhat sour taste that you will taste in your throat. Heartburn causes a person to have pain in his or her chest, which causes a certain amount of discomfort. From this description, it is evident that acid reflux disease has the potential to be quite unpleasant for whomever happens to be suffering from its symptoms.

There are also other symptoms of acid reflux disease that a person may or may not experience. These symptoms include sore throat, the need to clear one's throat continuously, a cough that will not subside and a hoarse voice.

Unfortunately, the nighttime symptoms that a person may experience with acid reflux disease can be more serious than those experience during the daytime hours. There are nighttime symptoms that you may experience in addition to the acid regurgitation and heartburn. These symptoms are an increase in acid regurgitation and/or heartburn when lying in bed, coughing and/or choking symptoms as a result of fluid occurring in the throat during the nighttime, and waking up in the morning with an unpleasant bitter and/or sour taste in the mouth.

Acid reflux disease is not something that you must grin and bear, so to speak. There are things that a person can do to help control the symptoms. For instance, there are many over the counter remedies that are specifically formulated to help control or relieve the symptoms. There are also web sites that sell homeopathic remedies or tell about household products that you can use to control or relieve your acid reflux disease symptoms.

If you are experiencing the symptoms described above, it is more than likely that you are plagued with acid reflux disease. Do not needlessly suffer. Go to your local drugstore, do research on the internet, or make an appointment with your doctor to find out what you can do to give yourself some relief.
